That’s completely understandable, but in my experience, the best projects always begin as soon as possible with something much simpler – a conversation.
Over the years, I’ve met many homeowners across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas who were convinced they knew exactly what they needed. Some believed they had no choice but to build an extension. Others had already decided which rooms to knock together or how much extra space they wanted to add.
Once we’d sat down and talked through their ideas, however, a different picture often emerged.
My first priority is always to understand how you and your family actually live in your home. What works well? What frustrates you? How do you imagine using the space in five or ten years’ time? The answers to those questions are often far more valuable than measurements on a drawing.
Sometimes the solution is an extension. Sometimes it’s a complete internal redesign. Occasionally it’s something much simpler that hadn’t even been considered. My role isn’t to steer you towards the biggest project. It’s to help you find the right one.
A relaxed conversation also gives you the opportunity to ask questions, discuss budgets, understand the planning process and explore what’s realistically achievable before making any significant financial commitment. Many homeowners tell me they leave that first meeting feeling far more confident and excited about what’s possible.
